Tourmalated Quartz Cedar Earrings
About the Piece
These earrings were brought to life from a piece of cedar I collected while hiking in the Pacific Northwest. I fell in love with the cedar drenched, mossy, fern covered forests in this part of the country and wanted to create works of art to commemorate that. After collecting the cedar, I created a mold of it and then used precious metal clay in the mold. From there I fired the clay and hand sawed out the cedar sprigs. The piece of cedar is highly detailed, retaining the texture from the original piece of cedar I molded. The botanical element hangs from a beautiful rose-cut Tourmalated Quartz. Tiny little tourmaline crystals sprawl across these beautiful stones. Despite the size of these earrings, they are very lightweight and comfortable.
